Description
Allspice is a dried fruit derived from the Pimenta dioica plant commonly known as pimento, jamaica pepper, or myrtle pepper plant. This flowering plant is from the Myrtle family and is indigenous to the West Indies, Greater Antilles, Central America, and Southern Mexico. However, it is cultivated in many warm parts of the world. The plant grows up to 30 feet and bears glossy spicy aromatic leaves, white flowers, and globular fruits with seeds.
